Stephen Drew Back In Starting Lineup Today
Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew suffered an oblique injury exactly one week ago and then aggravated it during batting practice a few days later, but hes clearly feeling much better.
Alex Speier, Red Sox beat writer, reports that Stephen Drew is back in the lineup today, replacing Xander Bogaerts:
Drew back, Bogaerts out: Holt 3B, Pedroia 2B, Ortiz DH, Napoli 1B, Nava LF, Pierzynski C, Sizemore RF, Drew SS, Bradley Jr. CF, Workman RHP— Alex Speier (@alexspeier) June 15, 2014
The thought from the team is that missing the first two months of the season resulted in Drew's oblique injury.
Drew, 31, is 1-for-14 (.071) with five strikeouts since signing a prorated one-year, $14.1 million deal with Boston on May 20.
