State Farm All-Star Saturday Night
It’s not enough that the Miami Heat have won two straight NBA championships but Chris Bosh felt it necessary to hog the shooting stars challenge Saturday night as well.
Bosh, NBA legend Dominique Wilkins and WNBA star Swin Cash successfully defended their tile thanks in part to the Heat forward connecting on backt-to-back half court shots.
“Straight luck, throw it up and pray it goes in,” Bosh said.
Portland Trail Blazers All-Star point guard Damian Lillard and fellow rookie Trey Burke from the Utah Jazz won the Taco Bell Skills Challenge over rookies Michael-Carter-Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers and Victor Oladipo of the Orlando Magic.
Lillard and Burke squeaked out the win by 0.1 seconds in the championship round, 45.2 seconds to 45.3.
San Antonio Spurs Marco Belinelli defeated Washington Wizards Bradley Beal 24-18 in a tie-break to win the Footlocker Three-Point contest.
Both players put on a show but Belinelli sunk all five money balls to snag the win.
“It’s so unbelievable I don’t know what to say, really,” Belinelli
The Spurs guard is only the third non-American player to have won the Three-Point contest, the other being Dirk Nowitzki and Peja Stojakovic.
“I didn’t know that, it’s like a dream come true,” Belinelli said.
To top off the night the East soared past the west, sweeping them in the dunk contest.
Washington Wizards John Wall brought down the house with his phenomenal dunks, leading the way for Pacers Paul George and Raptor’s Terrance Ross.
Moments before Wall stole the show, Sacramento Kings’ Ben McLemore completed a dunk in which he jumped over Shaquille O’Neal who was seated in a kings throne.
Wall took the ball from Wizards mascot G-Man, who held it above his head, then brought it back down between his legs and slammed it home.
