MARTIN ST-LOUIS ADDED TO CANADAS ROSTER FOR 2014 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES; STEVEN STAMKOS UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE

SOCHI, Russia Hockey Canada announced Thursday that forward Martin St-Louis (Laval, Que./Tampa Bay, NHL) has been added to Canadas National Mens Team roster for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Hockey Canada was informed Wednesday by the Tampa Bay Lightning that Steven Stamkos (Unionville, Ont./Tampa Bay, NHL) has not been cleared for game participation and will not represent Canada due to injury.

With the addition of St-Louis, Canadas roster includes 25 players, including three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 14 forwards.

The mens Olympic hockey tournament begins Wednesday, Feb. 12, with Canadas first game on Thursday, Feb. 13 against Norway. The tournament culminates with the gold medal game on Feb. 23. In the Olympic preliminary round, Canada also faces off against Austria on Friday, Feb. 14 and Finland on Sunday, Feb. 16. All of these games take place at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi.
