Nicks was initially diagnosed with MRSA, a highly-resistant form of staph, in late August. He was treated with antibiotics before returning to action in Week 3.
There was hope last week that he could possibly play against the Philadelphia Eagles. He and teammate Johnthan Banks were listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
Banks became the third player diagnosed with the infection last week. He was cleared to play Sunday by an infectious disease specialist, Dr. Deverick J. Anderson, who deemed Banks was at no risk of transmitting the infection.
There is no known timetable for Nicks' return. Kicker Lawrence Tynes, the first player to contract the infection, remains on a PICC line to treat it.
