So we know that Sunday at around 6:25 E.T. the Seattle Seahawks will take on the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVII. We know the game will be telecast on Fox and the radio will be handled by Dial Global/Westwood One and that it will ne the first ever outdoor game played at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
So what else should we know so that we can impress our friends and family members?
This game has chance to break the 2012 record for viewing audience of 111.3 million people set during the Giants-Patriots matchup in Super Bowl XLVI.
As we know the Super Bowl is the most bet on sporting event annually in Nevada. Last year, a record $99 million was bet legally. Of course millions will be bet among friends and family . Vegas’ sports books have lost money only twice in the past 23 Super Bowls.
Sunday the Broncos will make their seventh Super Bowl appearance which ties the New England Patriots for third most all-time (the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers have the most at 8). A loss would be Super Bowl record fifth for the Broncos.
The Broncos quarterback Payton Manning remains the NFL’s most marketable player. His off-field income of $12 million ranks first in the NFL and 21st overall across all sports.
We know that the game will be played outside and the game time temps should be right around 37 degrees. Back on January 16, 1972 in Super Bowl VI the Dallas Cowboys beat the 24-3. That game was played at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans where the temperature was 39 degrees and until Sunday it was the coldest Super Bowl on record.
The Seahawks are owned by Paul Allen, he of course is the co-founder of Microsoft. Mr. Allen is the NFL’s richest owner with a net worth of $15.8 billion dollars. By the way second on the list is the Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke is at $5.3 billion dollars. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen family fortuned was valued by Forbes at $1.16 billion dollars.
Sunday the players on the winning team will earn $92,000 per man for the game while the losers will pocket $46,000. For the record Payton Manning’s weekly check during the season was $882,353.
When it comes to franchise values the Broncos and the Seahawks are in the middle of the NFL pack. The Broncos rank No. 13 in Forbes NFL team valuations with a value of $1.16 billion while the Seahawks rank No. 15 at $1.08 billion.
Rocky Mountain High? Colorado and Washington are the only two states in the U.S. where marijuana is legal for recreational use. Also of note is both states have two of the smartest and richest workers in the country.
Halftime headliner Bruno Mars has sold 10 million records in three years. According the National Chicken Council estimates that 1.25 billion chicken wings will be consumed during the Super Bowl. Denver’s residents are 5% less likely to consume wings, while Seattle is 44% below the average. This year represents the 50th anniversary of the “Buffalo Wing.”
