The Orlando Magic trimmed their roster down to 15 players Friday night. They waived center Mickell Gladness, guard Manny Harris, forward Kris Joseph and forward Romero Osby.
Solomon Jones, a Mt. Dora native was the only training camp invitee to make the 15 man roster. Jones grew up a Magic fan and was very excited when he received the news that he made the team. He is ready to help and mentor the younger guys and help the team win.
The Magic will be Jones’ sixth team in his eight year career. The 28-year-old has appeared in 270 NBA games and 16 playoff games with the Hawks, Pacers, Hornets (now Pelicans), Clippers and Knicks. During the preseason, Jones appeared in seven games and started one as he averaged 4.6 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 1.2 steals per game in 16 minutes per game.
The Magic’s first opponent will be the very physical Indiana Pacers. The Magic will have three days of practice (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) to prepare for the season opener in Indiana on Tuesday Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Before the Magic’s practice on Saturday we talked to GM Rob Hennigan, Solomon Jones and HC Jacque Vaughn.
