Paulo Sousa will be named the new head coach of the New York Red Bulls, according to Soccer By Ives.
Sousa was a member of the “Portuguese Golden Generation”. He has played for Portuguese giants Benfica and Sporting CP, as well as Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan and has managed the Portugal U-16, English clubs Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City.
The news comes three days before the MLS Draft on January 17.
American legend Claudio Reyna has also reportedly stepped down from his post of US Soccer youth technical director to accept the assistant head coaching job with the Red Bulls.
Reyna is 5th in US history with 112 caps.
