Orlando City Soccer was happy to have Jean Alexandre back for Saturday night’s game as he scored two of the three goals for the 3-1 win over the Harrisburg City Islanders. Orlando just gained Midfielder Alexandre back from the Haitian National Team. He was the captain for Haiti during the group stages in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Alexandre said his time with Haiti helped him in the game Saturday.
“Being the captain of the National team, it forces me to be more vocal which helps me in my game also and I am just glad to be able to transmit some of that here in Orlando.”
Going into the game, Orlando had two ties under its belt from the past two road games against Dayton and Pittsburgh. Also, the last time Orlando and Harrisburg met it ended in a 2-2 draw on May 17.
In the first minutes of the game the possession seemed even but as the match went on it started going in Orlando’s favor. In the 25th minute of play, with a ball from Luke Boden, Jean Alexandre scored his first goal back with a diving header. Ten minutes later, Alexandre scored his 2nd goal of the match with a through ball from Jamie Watson. The last goal of the match for Orlando came from Dennis Chin in the 71st minute from a scramble inside the box. Harrisburg got on the board in the 79th minute with a goal from Lucky Mkosano.
Saturday’s game was the 7th game in 17 days for Orlando who will now have a two week break before they face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on August 3rd at the Citrus Bowl.
