Orlando City had a dominating game over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Saturday night with a 5-0 victory. It all started within the third minute when the first goal of the game was headed in by Long Tan off a corner kick. Just two minutes later Renan Boufleur scored the second goal of the game off of an assist from Tan. The last three goals were all scored in the second half, where the domination kept coming from Orlando. At the end of the game, Tan had two goals and Dennis Chin, Boufleur and Anthony Pulis had a goal each.
Orlando City played a game that most hadn’t seen before or in a really long time. The intensity stayed at the same level throughout the game, they never let up. The whole team worked together as a unit throughout the match from great saves that happened on the back line to the goals that were scored by the front line.
When asked about what factored into the energy level change from the past couple games, Dennis Chin said being in the playoffs changes things.
“When it’s win or go home, things change for everyone and we know we haven’t been playing up to par with the talent we have on our team so we made sure today that we came out with a lot of energy and that was the difference.”
In regards to Tan and Chin’s performance tonight, Coach Adrian Heath said that they never let Pittsburgh’s last four rest.
“I always say to the players, it’s my favorite quote, the supporters want to see you play like they think they would play if they had the chance and I think them two did tonight.”
Following the win, Orlando will host the Charleston Battery Friday night at the Citrus Bowl. The record between the two teams is 1-0-1, so it will be a tough match to see who moves on to the finals.
