Dwyer talked about playing for the Lions this season on loan from Sporting KC and how he adjusted to that type of schedule going back and forth between Sporting KC and Orlando City. Dwyer this year scored 15 goals in 13 games with Orlando City during the season while scoring one goal and one asst in ten games with Sporting KC. Dwyer played college soccer at USF in 2011. Dwyer was selected #16 overall in the 2012 MLS Draft by the Sporting KC. He made his debut on May 29, 2012 in a 3-2 win over Orlando City in the Lamar Hunt US Cup.
Dwyer, along with three other teammates, was loaned to Orlando City for the 2013 season as part of the alliance between the two clubs. Dwyer made an instant impact for the Lions by tallying two goals and one assist in the club’s first three matches. On May 4, 2013, Dwyer scored his first career hat-trick in a 7-2 victory over the Antigua Barracuda. On May 25, Dwyer scored his 13th goal of the season, tying the all-time season record in the USL Pro for goals with only 46% of the season played. On June 7, 2013, Dwyer scored his 14th goal of the season against Phoenix FC, surpassing Jhonny Arteaga’s tally of 13 goals for FC New York in 2011. On June 22, 2013, Dwyer scored the opening goal of an international friendly against Fluminense FC of Brasil’s Série A. Despite Dwyer’s 19th-minute strike, Orlando ultimately fell 4-3 in a exciting match.
