The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted rookie wide receiver Skye Dawson from the practice squad, where he spent the first six weeks of the season, to the active roster, the team announced Wednesday.
Dawson, 5-foot-9, 183-pound product of TCU, had 91 career catches for 1,125 yards and six touchdowns playing for the Horned Frogs. He returned 30 punts for 224 yards and earned All-Big 12 honors his senior season.
Cornerback Danny Gorrer, who was placed on Injured Reserve/Designated for Return was back practicing with the team Wednesday.
Gorrer suffered groin injury in camp that was aggravated in the Bucs’ preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens. He won’t be eligible to return to game action in Week 8.
Gorrer’s return will help a depleted secondary that lost rookie cornerback Rashaan Melvin to IR earlier this week.
New additions to practice squad
The Bucs made two new additions to the practice squad, signing tackle Emmett Cleary and defensive back Nick Saenz and releasing tackle Randy Richards.
