Should The Magic Aim For The Playoffs Or A Top Pick
In professional sports there is no secret “tanking” for a high draft pick is something teams have done.
The Magic are 6-13 and last in the Southeast Division but are not nearly as bad as their record shows.
Considering the 2014 NBA draft is loaded with studs and franchise saving players I think Orlando should consider setting the bar low, very low.
I’m not suggesting they lose on purpose or not give effort because the players and fans deserve better. However, I do think they should make roster moves that make them better long term while allowing them to drop games to establish a high draft pick.
Guard Arron Afflalo is showcasing he may be the NBA’s most improved player this year while Jamaeer Nelson is growing tired of coming off the bench and getting a limited role on the team.
With guys like Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Marcus Smart and Julius Randle all expected to be available in the upcoming NBA draft, the Magic could possibly add one of those guys to a roster with Victor Oladipo, Nikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris.
Orlando general manager Rob Hennigan is a very intelligent man and will maximize all potential in front of him.
Winning games in the short term is not nearly as important as winning the Eastern Conference for years to come.
