Senior Seminoles Honored by ACC Coaches
A pair of Florida State basketball seniors ? Ian Miller and Okaro White ? have been honored by the ACC Coaches as Miller was named the ACC?s Sixth Man of Year and earned All-ACC Honorable Mention?honors while White was named to the Coaches All-ACC Defensive Team in a vote by the league 15 head coaches.? The voting for the awards took place during the final weekend of the season and was based on the regular season performances of the players in the nation?s top college basketball conference.
Miller, who is Florida State?s second leading scorer despite starting only five games, was named the ACC?s Sixth Man of the Year in a vote by the league?s 15 head coaches.? Miller came off the Seminoles? bench in the first 23 games of the season before being inserted in to the starting line-up and ranks 15th in scoring, third in the ACC in both free throw and 3-point field goal percentages and is tied for ninth in 3-point field goals made with an 2.0 3FGM/Game average.
Miller was also named as an honorable mention member of the Coaches All-ACC Team.? He is ranked third in the ACC statistics with a .859 free throw shooting percentage and third in the ACC statistics with a .400 3-point field goal shooting percentage (for all games).? He is the ONLY player in the ACC ranked in the top three of BOTH the free throw shooting and 3-point shooting statistical categories.
White, who is averaging 1.0 blocked shots and 0.7 steals as a senior, was named to the All-ACC Defensive team by the 15 ACC coaches.? White has 18 blocked shots in 18 ACC games and enters the 2014 ACC Tournament with 98 career blocked shots ? he is two blocked shots from becoming only the 13th player I school history with 100 or more career blocked shots. White is the anchor of Florida State?s defensive effort which has been ranked among the best in the ACC and nation throughout the season.? The Seminoles are ranked second in the ACC in field goal percentage defense, second in blocked shots and sixth in steals and scoring defense.
