The current Yankee Stadium has hosted some of the biggest names in music, while taking its place as one of the most important venues on the worldwide concert circuit. Last year, Madonna sold out Yankee Stadium on September 6 and 8, during her MDNA world tour, and Roger Waters, co-founder and principal songwriter of Pink Floyd, brought his production of The Wall to the Stadium on July 6 and 7. Two years ago, legendary Beatle Paul McCartney performed a pair of sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium on July 15 and 16, 2011, and Metallica capped off a full day of heavy metal on September 14, 2011.
JAY Z co-headlined the first full-scale concerts at the current Yankee Stadium, sharing the bill with Eminem on September 13 and 14, 2010, for two sold-out shows. The Brooklyn-born rapper also performed at Yankee Stadium on October 29, 2009, singing his hit “Empire State of Mind” with Alicia Keys prior to the Yankees’ 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series.
