The San Jose Sharks will have to look for other venues at the ECHL ( East Coast Hockey League) level for an affiliate as the San Francisco Bulls have folded.
The team released a letter to season ticket holders informing them of the decision.
“We regret to inform you that the SF Bulls are ceasing operations, effective immediately. The team was hoping to secure new ownership, however the terms of an updated deal were unable to be finalized, cancelling the remainder of the season. We want to thank all of our loyal season ticket and mini plan holders over the last two season.”
The letter goes on mentioning how great the fan support was during the last week and that a deal for future seasons fell through due to time constraints. It also mentions that they will be taking requests for refunds up until February 28th for both season and single game ticket holders.
The Bulls debuted in October 2012 with a 4-3 loss. The Sharks went into agreement with the Bulls in 2011 and the Bulls played in the Cow Palace, the former home of the Sharks
The Sharks haven’t released a statement yet but are expected to release one. San Jose had three players on the Bulls’ roster with goaltender J.P. Anderson and forwards Riley Brace and Sebastian Stalberg.
With the Bulls folding, this leaves only 8 teams in the Western Conference of the ECHL which means all eight teams will make the playoffs this year. The ECHL said that it will release an updated schedule as soon as possible.
