[1]NEW YORK (AP) — Kansas City brought up Donnie Joseph from the minors, putting the 25-year-old left-hander in position to make his major league debut against the New York Yankees.

Joseph took the roster spot of right-hander Wade Davis, who was put on the paternity leave list Thursday. Joseph was 3-3 with three saves and a 3.55 ERA this year for Triple A Omaha. Selected by Cincinnati on the third round of the 2009 amateur draft, Joseph was acquired by the Royals last July 31 in the Jonathan Broxton trade.

Davis took the loss in Wednesday’s 8-1 defeat. His wife Katelyn is expecting their first child.

A player can be on the paternity leave list for up to three consecutive days.
