Ron Rivera Says Cam Newton Is Maturing
Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said said quarterback Cam Newton has shown maturity and has gotten a grasp of the offense this offseason.
Over the last 10 weeks, were seeing Cam maturing, and doing things in other ways to contribute and improve, Rivera said, via Albert Breer of NFL.com. It got to the point where Cam was installing things. He led the meetings. He was sitting with the receivers, the tight ends and helping them, not just standing next to [offensive coordinator Mike Shula]. You see stuff now you didnt see before.
That growth will be key, as Newton is dealing with issues that he has never had to deal with before. The Panthers are sticking with an unproven group at left tackle. Add that to his ankle injury and that's a lot to face.
