Rockies_Carlos_Gonzalez_2013Middle of orders are created with havoc in mind.

Chris Davis and Adam Jones were the equivalent of a crowbar to the shins and a punch to the windpipe Sunday. The Orioles’ sluggers went 7-for-10 with two home runs. The Rockies’ all-star duo lost its plurality recently. Just as shortstop Troy Tulowitzki begins to simmer at the plate, Carlos Gonzalez sits on the disabled list.

And the left fielder will not be activated when he’s eligible to return Tuesday. He won’t even swing a bat for the first time in two weeks until Wednesday, hoping that prescribed rest heals his sprained right middle finger.

“We will test him this week and see where he’s at,” Rockies trainer Keith Dugger said.
