Report: Wayne Gretzky Won't Join Caps Front Office
According to Jull Sorenson of Comcast SportsNet Washington, Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky is no longer in consideration for a front-office role with the Washington Capitals.
The report was followed up by Pierre LeBrun of ESPN:
Whether it's [Gretzky] for president of hockey operations or another high-end executive job, at this hour, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Which is too bad, because No. 99 in that kind of role would be a great asset. The Maple Leafs talked to Gretzky about a similar role last summer but talks didn't produce a deal.
The league having Gretzky in a role we can all see would be a good thing, but the Caps organization probably needs a more experienced person, though.
