Report: Greg Oden Arrested For Punching Ex-Girlfriend
Former Portland Trailblazer and current free agent center Greg Oden was arrested Thursday morning in Lawrence, Indiana accused of punching his ex-girlfriend, according to Fox 59 WXIN.
The Lawrence Police Department says they responded to a house at 3:30 am Thursday and when they arrived, they saw a woman lying down with blood on her face. A witness reportedly told police that she was the victim's best friend.
According to the report, the officer noticed blood, swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area on the victim.
The report says a relative of Oden says an argument between the NBA star and the victim woke her up. She told police, Every time the two visit and go out, there is an argument to follow.
Oden says things got out of control and he started to go after the victim. His relative and the witness held him back but he swung his arms and broke free. That's when he punched his ex-girlfriend.
He says he knows it was wrong and he knows "what has to happen."
The victim refused medical treatment and told police "she fell but was unable to advise when and where." Police also say she was uncooperative.
Oden was taken into custody and transported to APC, police say. They also report that he was calm, apologetic and cooperative and took "full responsibility" for his actions.
He was drafted by the Portland Trailblazers No. 1 overall in the 2007 NBA Draft after coming out of Ohio State. He most recently has played for the Miami Heat.
