Report: Bucs WR Mike Williams Has Torn Hamstring
When Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano addressed he media Friday in his day-after-game press conference, he was a bit coy about the status of wide receiver Mike Williams' hamstring injury.
I think its kind of always aggravated. He has a condition. Its just a matter if he can play with it," Schiano said. He did not disclose the condition, but during the team's open locker room just minutes later, Williams told Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune that he is suffering from a torn hamstring, an injury he sustained Sept. 29 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Against the New England Patriots in Week 3, Williams left the game with a hamstring injury. He missed two days of practice heading into the Arizona game the following week, but still managed to suit up on game day, finishing with four catches for 38 yards.
After the bye, he was limited throughout the week leading up to the Eagles game,a gamein which he missed. It was the first time in his four-year career that he had missed a regular season game due to injury.
He did suit up the last two games, although hewas limited off and on in practice. He hasn't shown his usual production, catching 22 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns, suggesting the injury has hampered his performance.
Just before the start of training camp, Williams signed a six-year deal with the club worth $40.25 million.
