Report: Bucs' Dennis Hickey Interviews with Dolphins for GM Job
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were busy conducting a second wave of interviews for general manager?candidates this week, one of the organization's?own, Dennis Hickey, got a look elsewhere.
According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Hickey, the Bucs director of player personnel who served as Mark Dominik's right-hand man for?several years,?interviewed for the Miami Dolphins GM job on Friday.
Hickey has been with the Buccaneers for 18 years,?starting as a?pro personnel assistant in?the team's?scouting department in 1996 and working his way up to director of player personnel, a position he's held since 2011.
In his current role, he has been responsible for coordinating?area scouts and compiling college scouting reports prior to the draft, along with?evaluating potential free agents and trade prospects.
He is one of seven candidates to interview for the?job in Miami, a position that was occupied by Jeff Ireland?since 2008. Interestingly, Hickey was not among the names?mentioned for consideration in Tampa.
