Multiple reports confirm that the 49ers will receive the Chiefs’ second round pick (34th overall) in April’s NFL draft, as well as a conditional mid-round pick in 2014.
Smith was benched in favor of Colin Kaepernick last season and The 49ers were expected to trade the former no. 1 overall pick this offseason.
Andy Reid is in his first season as the Chiefs head coach after being fired from the Philadelphia Eagles. Reid is famous for his quarterback-friendly system that helped players like Mike Vick flourish as a passer.
If the trade goes down on March 12, the Chiefs are expected to select Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel in the 2013 NFL Draft to protect Smith’s blindside.
