Redskins Likely To Sit RGIII For Preseason

[1]As the Redskins enter training camp this week, fans can breathe now that Robert Griffin III has been cleared to practice. But perhaps you shouldn’t expect to see him in an actual game for quite some time.

Already, Griffin tweeted that he expects the coaching staff “to ease me in,” and ESPN’s Adam Schefter writes it would “be a major surprise if he played in a preseason game based on Mike Shanahan’s coaching history and the thoughts of some in the Washington Redskins organization.”

Considering Shanahan took major criticism for his decision to continue playing a very clearly-injured Griffin in last year’s playoff loss to Seattle — some people were calling for Shanahan to be fired for his supposed disregard for RG3’s health — caution this fall would make plenty of sense.
