Reds Cozart Back In Lineup After Finger Injury
CINCINNATI (AP) Shortstop Zack Cozart was back in the Reds' starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs on Monday night, two days after he suffered a frightening finger injury while trying to bunt.
Cozart thought he'd broken his right index finger when it was hit by the pitch while he tried to bunt on Saturday. X-rays were negative and the finger made a quicker-than-expected recovery.
Manager Dusty Baker said right-hander Johnny Cueto also is making progress in recovering from a pulled muscle in his back. Cueto went on the 15-day disabled list a week earlier. Baker said there's no timetable yet for him to start a regular throwing program.
Left-handed reliever Sean Marshall was set to start a rehab stint at Triple-A on Monday, working his way back from a sore pitching shoulder.
