Red Sox Lester: Willing To Return If Traded

The Boston Red Sox and Jon Lester weren't able to come to an agreement on a new deal before the season started. Now he has tabled discussions after the Red Sox offered him a four-year deal at $70 million. With the team being out of the playoffs, it's been a discussion that the team will trade Lester at the deadline which is next week. This is what he said to reporters after the Red Sox lost to the Tampa Bay Rays:

Ive been through it a couple times at a younger age, said Lester of the specter of a trade. If thats where they want to go with it, thats fine. No hard feelings. Hopefully, come November Ill be right here and wont have to worry about it.

Yeah, why not? he said. I mean, (Boston) is what I know, this is what I love. Like Ive said plenty of times, this is where I want to be. And if they trade me I completely understand. No hard feelings. I know what they have to do for their organization and if that involves me, so be it. If it doesnt Ill keep running out there every five days and pitching.
