The Game 1 starter for the Red Sox will be Jon Lester, which was already known. Farrell also said John Lackey and Jake Peavy will be starting Games 3 and 4, respectively.
Buchholz, 29, went 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 96 strikeouts in 108 1/3 innings this season. He may have engaged in a great battle for the AL Cy Young with Max Scherzer, but he was only able to make 16 starts due to an extended absence with right shoulder bursitis.
