Rays Use Familiar Formula To Dominate Rangers 8-1
Pitching, Defense, and 3-Run Homers
The Tampa Bay Rays received an outstanding start from rookie right hander Jake Odorizzi who delivered six scoreless innings against a tough Texas Rangers lineup. The Rays stacked their lineup with nine right handed batters in order to take advantage of Rangers lefty Joe Saunders who allowed five runs before leaving after getting struck by a line drive with two-outs in the fourth inning. The Rays offense received a pair of three run homers as Sean Rodriguez connected off Saunders in the third inning and Ryan Hanigan blasted his off Daniel McCutchen in the fifth.
