Rays Look To Sweep Orioles, Notes & Lineups
Matt Moore enters the game looking to extend his franchise best start of season record to 8-0. He also is looking for his 9th straight win without a loss dating back to last season which would surpass David Price's franchise record of 8 straight wins without a loss. The last left handed starter age 23 or younger to begin a season with an 8-0 record was Babe Ruth in 1917 but Moore has a long way to go to match the best start ever by a lefty. That honor belongs to former Orioles starter Dave McNally who began the 1969 season with a 15-0 record.
Tillman has struggled against the Rays. In his 8 career starts he is 1-4 with a 5.06 ERA and at Oriole Park at Camden Yards he is 1-2 with a 6.31 ERA. The Orioles starting staff has only received 1 quality start (at least 6IP giving up 3 earned runs or less) in their past 8 games and their starter has gone more than 5 innings only once in their past 7 games.
The Rays will have a new face in their bullpen this afternoon in left hander Jeff Beliveau has been recalled from Durham and to make room for himAlex Torres was sent down after the game. Beliveau is with the team to provide a fresh arm in the bullpen and will more than likely be sent back to Durham after the game to clear a roster spot for Jake Odorizzi to take the start for the Rays tomorrow in Toronto.
With the Bulls the left-handed Beliveau has appeared in 10 games (10.1 innings pitched) and has a 0-1 record with a 4.53 ERA. He has faced 51 batters and struck out 24 of them. The Rays sent the Texas Rangers cash to acquire him in mid-April. He has major league experience appearingin 22 games (17.2 IP) with the Chicago Cubs in 2012 and posting a 0-1 record with a 4.58 ERA.
After the game the Rays will travel to Toronto to begin a 3 game series against the Blue Jays.
