Posted By Steve Kinsella On August 30, 2013 @ 11:52 PM In Legacy | No Comments
Jarrod Parker is doing to the Rays offense what he has done to most everyone he has faced recently.
Now with Kurt Suzuki’s 3-run homer off David Price in the bottom of the 5th giving the A’s and Parker a 3-1 lead the Rays offense will have their work cut out for them.
Similar to David Price A’s right hander Jarrod Parker got off to a rough start posting a 2-6 record with a 5.76 ERA over his first 10 starts and the opposition hit .294 against him.
Over his last 16 starts he has gone 8-0 with a 2.48 ERA (30 ER/108.2 IP) and has held hitters to a .202 (78 for 386) average.
He has gone at least 8 inning in each of his last 3 starts posting a 2-0 record with a 1.07 ERA (3 ER/25.1 IP). In the month of August he is 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA (8 ER/37.1 IP) covering 5 starts. In those 5 starts he has struck out 37 batters while walking just 7.
He leads the American League in ERA in August and is tied for the second in wins with Martin Perez of the Texas Rangers who has 5.
