According to Jesse Rogers, the Tampa Bay Rays have claimed David DeJesus off of waivers.

In 320 plate appearances this season, DeJesus is batting .248/.328/.399. Nearly all of his damage has come against right-handed pitching, as evidenced by his .266/.347/.440 batting line against opposite-handed pitching.
DeJesus was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 4th round in the 2000 amateur draft.
This is a big risk for the Rays. I was talking to Steve Kinsella, the Rays Insider of Sports Talk Florida, on Twitter and he says DeJesus is owed $2.5M right now. If the Washington Nationals don’t want to pay it, the Rays can’t back out. They’d have to take him and 100 percent of his salary.
“That includes the $1.5M buyout of his 2014 Option of 6.5M. Expensive guy if the Rays held him. So, ~700K on this year + $1.5M buyout = 2.2M.”
But hey, there are those fans that say the Rays never take risks, dish out the money and sign some players. Well, that’s a big one.
