Rays Acquire Lefty Reliever Wesley Wright
Wesley Wright?the longest tenured Astros player has been acquired by the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations.
The 28 year old Wright has appeared in 54 games in 2013 and has a record of 0-4 with a 3.92 ERA. Thus far this season he has struggled against left handed hitters as they are hitting .305 (25 for 82) against him while he has held right handed batters to a .250 (20 for 80) average.
In his career he has held left handed hitters to a .236 batting average (99 for 419) and a slash line of .236/.319/.346. Right handed hitters have fared much better hitting .266 (132 for 497) and a slash line of .266/.358/.495.
Wright is in his first year of arbitration and is making $1.03M dollars and is under team control for the next two seasons. ?He is out of options meaning he can not be assigned to the minor leagues without clearing waivers which means he'll be assigned to the Rays 25 man roster.
The corresponding roster move will be made tomorrow.
