NFL News: Marshall and Jeffery are the best pair in the NFL

1. Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, Chicago Bears

At 6’4 and 6’3 Jay Cutler has some rather tall targets to throw to. In addition to their height both Marshall and Jeffery possess an incredible leaping ability to go along with lengthy wing spans. This dynamic duo has an extremely large catch radius that helps them haul in balls with ease. Last season the pair combined for 2,716 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. For Jeffery, 2013 was his break out year, as he shattered the Bears single game receiving record with 249 yards, which was his second 200-yard game of the season. As for Marshall, he recorded his 7th consecutive year with 1,000 or more receiving yards and his 5th season with 100 or more receptions.

2. Julio Jones and Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons

Prior to the 2013 season, the best wide receiving duo in  the league had been Jones and White, but they have been passed by the new “Monsters of the Midway.” When healthy, Jones and White have shown that they can put up the numbers for the Falcons. White was on pace for his 7th consecutive 1,000 yard season, before injuries plagued his season. Based on their 2012 production (2,549 yards and 17 touchdowns), Jones and White come in just a hair under Marshall and Jeffery. It should be interesting to watch a healthy Jones and White compete to regain the title of the “Best Wide Receiving Duo” in the NFL.

3. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers

In 2013, Nelson racked up 1,314 yards to go along with 8 touchdowns…unfortunately his partner in crime, Randall Cobb, was bitten by the injury bug in 2013 and missed significant time. If this duo can stay healthy, they appear destined for eye-opening stats with Aaron Rodgers at QB.

4. Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, Detroit Lions

For several years now ‘Megatron” has been a beast at receiver, and could arguably be considered the best at his position. The only problem is that he has been a “one-man-show” in Detroit. But with a new running mate, Johnson and Golden Tate have to be considered among the league’s elite receiving duos.

5. Wes Welker and Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos

With over 1,400 yard receiving and 14 touchdowns, Demaryius Thomas was among the NFL’s best in 2013. Now if Wes Welker can stay healthy, you are looking at one the league’s top wide receiving combos. It also doesn’t hurt to have Peyton Manning as your quarterback. Despite suffering two concussions last season Welker managed to put up 778 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2013.

Honorable Mention:

Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

While this up-and-coming duo has yet to play an NFL snap together, one can only imagine how they will provide a much needed jolt to the Bucs passing game. With V-Jax’s experience, and QB Josh McCown at the helm, I would expect some impressive numbers from this pair.
