Rams Fear OT Jake Long Has a Torn ACL
Less than four minutes into the Bucs-Rams game Sunday, Rams Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jake Long was carted off with a knee injury and he did not return.
Head coach Jeff Fisher told reporters after the game that he believes it’s a torn ACL but will await further testing.
“We anticipate the worst for Jake,” Fisher said. “We’ll confirm [it but] we’re suspecting he has a torn ACL.”
On third-and-8 of the Rams’ first offensive possession, with defensive end Adrian Clayborn approaching, Long’s back leg appeared to buckle underneath him. He was carted off the field.
The Rams have already been without starting right guard Harvey Dahl, who suffered a knee injury against the Seattle Seahawks back in October, and starting center Scott Wells, who suffered a broken fibula in September against the San Francisco 49ers.
Long joined the Rams this year on a four-year, $36 million contract after five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, who made him the first overall pick of the 2008 NFL draft.Rams Fear OT Jake Long Has a Torn ACL by Jenna Laine
