BREAKING: QB Josh McCown Signs 2-Year Deal with the Bucs
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got their wish — to never let quarterback Josh McCown out of the building. And he got his — a chance to start.
McCown signed a two-year deal with the Bucs Wednesday afternoon, earning himself an opportunity to compete for a starting job, something that has eluded him throughout his career.
The deal is worth $10 million, which includes $4.75 million in 2014 and $5.25 million in 2015. On top of that, if he earns the starting job, he’ll make an additional $1 million per season, and if he leads the Bucs to the playoffs he can make an additional $3 million.
The Bucs were the first team he visited, with scheduled visits to the Houston Texans and New York Jets after.
In eight games last season with the Bears, including five starts, McCown went 3-2, completing 149 of 224 passes for 1,829 yards, 13 touchdowns and one interception, finishing with a 109.0 quarterback rating.BREAKING: QB Josh McCown Signs 2-Year Deal with the Bucs by Jenna Laine
