The Rangers will seek one final opinion before proceeding with the procedure, but surgery appears to be a near certainty.
The surgery would be to repair a herniated disk in his neck, which is reportedly pinching a portion of the nerve in his neck, causing weakness in his left arm.
Fielder hadn’t gotten off to a great start in his time with the Rangers either, as he hit just .288 with 2 HR’s and 10 RBI’s through his first 39 games with the team.
Fielder is owed $24MM this season and $114MM through the 2020 season.
Fielder, 30, is a career .285 hitter with 288 HR’s and 886 RBI’s in 1,364 career games with the Brewers, Tigers, and Rangers.
