The Rays make their first visit of the season to Houston tonight, and first as an American League nemesis, in a match up that sees a battle of the southpaws as the Rays’ Matt Moore (10-3, 3.95) faces off against Dallas Keuchel (4-4, 4.34) and the Astros.
The Rays are starting to heat up, jumping the Yankees for third place in the AL East with back to back wins over the Detroit Tigers. They hit the road after going 4-2 on this previous home stand, and are winners of 5 of their last 7 games.
Moore notched his 10th win of the season in his last start which saw him punch out 11 Blue Jays’ hitters over just 6 innings of work. He ended the month of June strong with 2 wins, but struggled early on going 0-3 with a wopping 13.86 ERA.
Former Rays’ slugger Carlos Pena , now with Houston, will not be with the team to face his former club tonight. He is away due to a death in the family, but should return tomorrow.
