Phillies Prospect Arrested On Two Charges
The Oregonian reports that Oregon State ace Ben Wetzler, who is a fifth-round pick by the Philadelphia Phillies, was arrested Saturday for second-degree criminal mischief and first-degree criminal trespassing. Both of these are Class A misdemeanors. His legal name is Benjamin Holmes.
He was arrested at his home in Corvallis at 4:39 am and later released Saturday on $37,500 bail.
Wetzler's arrest comes on the heels of a stellar performance. He allowed two earned runs and eight strikeouts in eight innings of No. 2 OSU's 4-2 win over the Bruins on Friday night.
