Path To The Draft: Patric Young's Journey To The NBA
The four-year player under head coach Billy Donovan had a successful campaign at the University of Florida. The Jacksonville native finished his collegiate career as the 2013-14 Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year, AP All-American, SEC Scholar- Athlete of the Year, and the 11th player in the history of the Florida basketball program to finish their career with more than 1,300 points and 800 rebounds. In addition, Young helped the 2014 senior class to 120 wins the most wins of any class in UF history, as well as three SEC championships and a Final Four appearance.
After graduating from UF and finishing up his senior year, Floridas big man has remained focused on pursuing his goal of playing for an NBA team. He had a solid performance and strong showing at the 2014 NBA Draft Combine where he bench pressed 185 pounds 25 consecutive times and measured 6-foot-10 without sneakers. 22 year-old Young has also been traveling across the country visiting and working out with several teams throughout the draft process including the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, and others.
The former standout Gator shut his Twitter account down for several weeks in preparation for the NBA Draft and just recently expressed his excitement for the day hes been waiting his entire life for.

The 2014 NBA draft class is loaded with talent this year with players like Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins, and Young.The Florida productis projected to go late in the first round or early in the second. Meanwhile, former Gators Casey Prather and Scottie Wilbekin are not projected to be selected in this years NBA draft, but will likely have the opportunity to make a roster as a free agent.
