Paralyzed Football Player Signs NFL Contract

Over the weekend, the New Orleans Saints signed a paralyzed football player from Tulane. Devon Walker just graduated. He became paralyzed after suffering from a severe spinal injury in 2012.
Walker received his college degree over the weekend and was surprised by Saints head coach Sean Peyton with a contract.
College Football Talk says that Peyton was inspired by Walker and his hard work, despite his injury.
“He is an outstanding young man, who is not only an inspiration to his coaches and teammates at Tulane, but to all of us. Devon’s character, determination, intelligence and work ethic are everything that we look for in a New Orleans Saint when we sign a player. This is the least we can do to recognize Devon and these attributes that we want all of our players to have.”
It’s pretty incredible to see the Saints reaching out to this young man who can no longer play the sport he loves.
Remember Eric LeGrand from Rutgers? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him in 2012 when Greg Schiano was head coach. LeGrand was a special part of the team but he decided to retire soon after, in order to leave a spot on the team for someone who could play.
Now, Walker can be a part of a professional team, just like LeGrand, and inspire more fans than he already has.
