Panthers’ Tim Thomas Placed On IR

The Panthers put Thomas on injured reserve Wednesday after he sustained an injury Tuesday night on a third-period shot. The lower-body injury was specified only as being not the groin he injured last week.
Putting Thomas on injured reserve removes him from the roster for seven days from the date of the injury, taking him out for home games against Buffalo and Tampa Bay. The Panthers recalled Scott Clemmensen from their American Hockey League affiliate in San Antonio.
“We’re confident he’s not going to be long term,” Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. “He’s a quick healer.”
The next game Thomas might be back for would be the Nov. 1 home game against St. Louis, which pumped five goals by Thomas in the first two periods of a 7-0 rout Oct. 5.
