O’s Machado Suffers Bad Leg Injury Versus Rays
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has been taken off the field on a stretcher after injuring his left leg running out an infield single.
Machado’s leg buckled when he reached the first-base bag in the seventh inning of Monday’s game at Tampa Bay. Usually these injuries happen on bang-bang plays but Machado slowed down and was watching the ball when he tagged the bag wrong and went down.
Machado was in obvious pain while being treated on the infield dirt near first by team trainers and stadium medical officials.
According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, he got an air cast put on his leg.

Baltimore manager Buck Showalter patted Machado several times near the shoulder before the stretcher was moved from the playing field.
He got a standing ovation as he was carted off.

A few short plays later, Alexi Casilla was knocked out cold on this play when Wil Myers drilled a fly ball into center field. Casilla was okay in a few minutes and amazingly, he stayed in the game. Again, credit @Corkgaines.
