“We’re excited to welcome Jason (Maxiell) and his family to the Magic organization,” said Hennigan in a statement. “Jason brings an element of experience, toughness and resolve to our roster that we feel will benefit our team.”
Maxiell was selected by the Pistons in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft and has spent his whole NBA career in Detroit.
The Texas native brings eight years of experience, averaging 6.1 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game in 19.1 minutes per game.
Last season, the six-foot-seven forward/center played in 72 games and averaged 6.9 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game and 1.32 blocks per game in 24.8 minutes per game.
Maxiel’sl experience will balance out a very young and talented roster.
