Orlando Magic Roster Preview: Kyle O’Quinn
Last season, the Queens native appeared in 57 games (4.1 ppg., 4.41 rpg. and 11.2 minpg.) and made five starts (10.8 ppg., 7.2 rpg. and 27.6 minpg.)
The young forward really got the hang of things towards the end of season. O’Quinn played exceptionally well on Mar. 27, 2013 against the Charlotte Bobcats as he set a career high of 23 points (11-of-14 FG) and pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Magic hope O’Quinn matures and develops into a strong forward/center to give the roster some depth.
During his rookie season O’Quinn did a lot of hustling and it was noticed. O’Quinn won the Orlando Magic’s 2013 Aleve-Publix Hustle Player of the Year Award.
Throughout the season O’Quinn demonstrated his drive to get better and help his team. Whether it was bloody lip, which resulted in seven stitches or driving in for a loose ball, head coach Jacque Vaughn can count on him to make a hustle plays.
The Magic selected O’Quinn in the second round (49th overall) in the 2012 NBA Draft.
The Magic and O’Quinn agreed to a three year contract worth almost $2.5 million with only the first year being guaranteed. The Magic have the right to waive him before opening night on Oct. 29, 2013.
The preseason is set to being on Oct. 9 when the Orlando Magic take on the New Orleans Pelicans in Jacksonville at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Tickets are on sale now and prices range from $15 to $250.
The Magic will start its 25th ‘Silver Season’ season on the road. They will face the Indiana Pacers (Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. ET) and Minnesota Timberwolves (Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. ET) before returning to the Amway for the season home opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
