The Magic will get a chance to pick up a win before having a three day holiday break. The Orlando Magic will host the New York Knicks Monday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. ET.
The last time the two teams met, the Knicks outscored the Magic 121-83 and set a season high of 17 3-pointers in one game. During that game, the Magic were trailing by five points at the half but in the third quarter the Knicks pulled away by scoring 30 points and holding the Magic to 15 points.
Carmelo Anthony created some problems for the Magic on both ends of the court. He scored a team high of 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Anthony did not take a lot of shots during that game but managed to get points with fouls. He made six of this 10 shots and went to the free throw line nine times.
Anthony’s former teammate Arron Afflalo also scored 20 points that night. Afflalo is arguably having the best year of his career. He is currently averaging a team and career high of 21.8 points per game and has really taken ownership of the leadership role in the locker room.
The Magic’s double-double machine Nikola Vucevic did not play against the Knicks earlier this month because of a sprained ankle. That really affected the Magic’s defense as they were out rebounded 45-31. Vucevic should be in the Magic’s starting lineup for Monday night’s game.
The Magic will be without reserve guard E’Twaun Moore because of a thigh contusion he suffered during practice a few days ago.
