The Rays received a quality start from Jake Odorizzi [2] (2-3, 4.89 ERA) who delivered six shutout innings allowing just one hit striking out seven and walking two. He has now worked 11.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

Jake McGee [3], Joel Peralta [4], and Grant Balfour [5] followed Odorizzi to the mound and each delivered a scoreless frame culminating with Balfour picking up his seventh save on the season.

The Rays offense was unable to deliver a big blow Mariners starter Brandon Maurer [6]  (1-2, 6.00) but were able to load the bases against him in the fourth inning and knock him out of the scoreless game.

He was replaced by Dominic Leone [7] who walked Yunel Escobar [8] to score James Loney [9] and then uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Wil Myers [10] to cross home plate with the Rays second run.

Over 5.1 innings of work Mariners relievers Dominic Leone, Tom Wilhelmsen [11], Charlie Furbush [12], and Danny Farquhar [13] did not allow an earned run allowed just one hit walked two and struckout ten.

The Rays now move to Anaheim where temperatures are expected to reach into the triple digits during the afternoon.

Tonight will be a battle of lefties as Erik Bedard [14] (2-1, 3.38 ERA) takes the mound against Tyler Skaggs [15] (3-1, 4.14 ERA) at 10:05.
