Rays Win Third Consecutive Road Series
After a rocky 1-5 home stand the Rays have returned to their winning way on the road. In defeating the Seattle Mariners 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon the team now has won three consecutive road series. The win improves the Rays record to 18-23 and the loss drops the Mariners to 20-20.
The Rays received a quality start from Jake Odorizzi  (2-3, 4.89 ERA) who delivered six shutout innings allowing just one hit striking out seven and walking two. He has now worked 11.2 consecutive scoreless innings.
The Rays offense was unable to deliver a big blow Mariners starter Brandon Maurer  (1-2, 6.00) but were able to load the bases against him in the fourth inning and knock him out of the scoreless game.
Over 5.1 innings of work Mariners relievers Dominic Leone, Tom Wilhelmsen , Charlie Furbush , and Danny Farquhar  did not allow an earned run allowed just one hit walked two and struckout ten.
The Rays now move to Anaheim where temperatures are expected to reach into the triple digits during the afternoon.
