Overall, the Tampa Bay Times Forum was more subdued than it was energized during the first period of play. The loudest outburst of the period were delivered after the video tributes for former Lightning Captain Vincent Lecavalier.

Special Teams:

The Lightning had one power play opportunity but were extremely disorganized and were unable to get the puck setup in the Flyers zone as Philadelphia easily killed off the penalty and seemed to apply more pressure during the 2-minutes.  After watching the failure of the power play unit to materialize it’s not difficult to see why they are in a 3 for 36 slide.

Penalty Kill:

The Philadelphia Flyers Wayne Simmonds was awarded a penalty shot after Victor Hedman was called for hooking at the 16:46 mark but Anders Lindback was up to the task to stone him and keep the game scoreless.
