Bolts Strike First But Capitals Come Back To Score Three Unanswered Goals

The Tampa Bay Lightning jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Washington Capitals at the 4:08 mark when Tyler Johnson scored his 12th goal on the season with assists from Ondrej Palat (13).

For Palat it was his eighth straight game with a point setting a franchise record for rookies previously held by Brad Richards from (January 29, 2001 through February 13, 2001). It is also the longest consecutive point streak for any rookie this season.

The lead was short lived as the Capitals came back to tie the game at the 7:04 mark on Eric Fehr‘s seventh goal of the season and they took the lead on a power play goal at the 10:37 mark on Mikhail Grabovski‘s 12th goal on the season.

The Capitals scored a power play goal at the 19;48. It was Marcus Johansson‘s seventh goal on the season.

The Lightning are 17-2-1  when they score first but are only 1-7-1 when they trail after the first period. When the Capital allow the opposition to score first they are 7-9-6 but when they lead after the first period they are 6-4-0.

The Lightning have outshot the Capitals 11-9.

The Capitals came into the game 2nd in the NHL on the power play with a 25.3% (38 goals in 150 opportunities) and scored on both of their power play opportunities. The Lightning power play unit has yet to take the ice.
