STADIUM SERIES

HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA
The city of Lloydminster Alta./Sask., one of two Canadian cities to be split by a provincial border, serves as the primary backdrop for CBC’s coverage of the 14th Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. Throughout the day-long broadcast, beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET, CBC will feature stories across Canada about the impact that hockey has on the community as well as live game broadcasts of all seven Canadian NHL clubs. Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Hartnell and Ottawa Senators forward Clarke MacArthur, both from Lloydminster, Alta, will be in action tonight.

HOCKEY DAY MINNESOTA
The eighth annual celebration of hockey in Minnesota will feature more than 16 hours of original hockey-related programming on FOX Sports North including the Wild’s match-up with the Dallas Stars and three high school hockey games on an outdoor rink in Elk River. Minnesota is 5-1-1 all-time on Hockey Day Minnesota, including four straight wins. The State of Hockey Legacy Award will be presented to Lou Nanne, the Minnesota hockey legend who this year celebrates calling his 50th high school state tournament.

BLACKHAWKS END DUCKS’ STREAK
Marian Hossa scored twice (2-0-2) and the Blackhawks held off a late Ducks rally to snap Anaheim’s eight-game winning streak in a battle of the League’s top two teams.Bryan Bickell gave Chicago a 3-0 lead midway through the third period, but Anaheim answered with two goals in 53 seconds before Hossa scored into the empty net to seal the win.

* Anaheim lost for just the second time in its past 20 games (18-2-0) while netminderJonas Hiller suffered his first loss since Dec.3, ending his club-record 14-game winning streak. His stretch of victories matched the second-longest single-season streak in NHL history.

* Chicago won for the first time in its past six match-ups versus Anaheim (1-3-2) and improved to 24-0-5 when scoring the game’s first goal this season.

* Hossa’s first goal was the 28th shorthanded tally of his career, tying him for first among active players with Martin St. Louis and Mike Richards. He recorded a season-high eight shots on net while extending his point streak to four games (4-2–6). It was his second multi-goal game of the season and 77th of his career, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, Hossa ranks fifth among active players for most multi-goal games behindTeemu Selanne (131), Jaromir Jagr (120), Jarome Iginla (96) and Alexander Ovechkin (82).

BLUE JACKETS REMAIN HOT IN JANUARY
Cam Atkinson scored twice and Sergei Bobrovsky made 26 saves as Columbus skated to a 5-1 win against Washington in coach Todd Richards’ 300th game behind an NHL bench (142-129-29). Bobrovsky has posted a 6-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and .955 save percentage in his past six decisions, the fourth winning streak of six-or-more games in his career.

* The Blue Jackets extended their winning streak to a season-high five games, improving to 6-1-0 in January. Columbus is undefeated this season when Nathan Horton, records a point (5-0-0) and when James Wisniewski scores a goal (4-0-0).

LOOSE PUCKS
Columbus forward Mark Letestu recorded his 100th NHL point (45-55–100) and extended his point streak to four games (4-1–5)…. Capitals forward Martin Eratrecorded his 500th NHL point while teammate Brooks Laich played in his 600th NHL game… The Department of Player Safety fined Phoenix Coyotes forward Martin Hanzalfor high-sticking Vancouver Canucks forward David Booth.

STEEN RETURNS TO THE LINEUP
St. Louis forward Alexander Steen will be in the lineup tonight when the Blues host the League-leading Anaheim Ducks. Steen, who has missed the past 11 games, leads the Blues in goals (24) and his 38 points in 35 games rank second on the team in scoring toT.J. Oshie (11-29–40) – his 24 goals still ties him for fifth in the NHL with Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Kunitz.
