Percy Harvin Trade Recap

Vikings trade Harvin to Seattle pending physical
Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Harvin has been traded to the Seahawks, pending a physical.

The deal can be finalized at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, when the new league year begins.

Harvin trade will include new contract
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the deal won’t happen without a new contract for Harvin. He’s currently entering the final year of his rookie contract.

Harvin deal includes at least one first-round pick

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the compensation includes at least a first-round pick.

There may or may not be more. For now, the Vikings get at least the Seahawks’ 2013 first-round pick, the 25th overall selection.

It gives the Vikings two out of three selections in the 20s: No. 23 and No. 25. For a year in which the first 25 selections are regarded to be relatively equivalent, that’s not a bad thing.

Vikings get three picks for Harvin

Now, the Vikings have parlayed Percy Harvin into a first-rounder, a seventh-rounder, and a mid-round selection in 2014, according to Jay Glazer of FOX.

The first-rounder this time around is 18 spots lower. In 2005, the Vikings wasted the seventh overall selection on Troy Williams, a speed receiver who had the speed but had lots of trouble with the receiving.
